This is happening a lot nowadays. People from all walks of life are taking up nursing courses and, not just that, they are actually becoming nurses. I think it is because of the recession. With most jobs losing their potential and nursing still remaining a lucrative proposition, people are willing to make the shift.

Could you tell me what program your friend used for her online LPN certification? I am keen on taking one up. I live in Tennessee and want to know if these programs are state based or nationally applicable. I guess it is the latter but am not sure.

I think most of these are nationally applicable. They have programs that can be used by any student anywhere in the country. Actually, all states have different requirements, but the course material you have to study is generally the same.

All right, please help me out here. My name is Olivia and I work till 7 pm every evening, except on weekends. Is there an online nursing program anywhere that conforms to my timings? I am particularly interested in knowing how the clinical sessions will be scheduled.

I become an LPN last year! I used a program that met my needs; I was working as a writer for a local magazine and was busy till 6 pm every evening. But I wanted to change tracks and learn to be a nurse. I did that and am not repenting at all.

What extra did your friend have to do to get “initiated”? I mean if she was an engineer, she had a background in science but what about biology? Did she have to get extra credits for biology before she could get into nursing?

I am an engineer too, a civil engineer, and the high competition in our area has ensured that I don’t get good assignments ï Anyway, your post encourages me to try something different and nursing has always been lucrative.

I have been looking around on the Internet for nursing programs here and they look good. If you can become a nurse from your home itself, why would you spend so much time and effort commuting? I am sure I’ll get a better job when I am through with my course as well.
