My husband and I recently purchased a new home with a very large backyard. He and I came to an agreement that he would do all of the heavy yard work such as mowing, edging and taking care of the irrigation system while it would be my responsibility to pull weeds and take care of the flowers. The very first time I worked out there I realized how hard it was going to be. I immediately drove down to the home improvement center and bought one of those Garden Cultivators that pulls the weeds out with a twisting motion. Now I find that the work is much easier.
