After I was informed that half of my students were allergic to mold, I decided to try a couple of Science Projects so they would understand what it is and what conditions are good for mold growth. I had the students wear goggles and face masks anytime they were around the experimental settings so their allergies would not flare. The students seemed to really enjoy the experiments and thoroughly understand what causes the mold to grow and cause them harm. Each of them mentioned that they would be looking for mold spore growth in their basements at home because of the basements dark and damp conditions.
