Do not keep food in his plate all day long. Feed him only twice a day. Take him out immediately after his meal. Once he has finished his business, praise him, take him in and put him in his crate and give him some toys. Keep your beagle puppy on a leash while out on a potty break. So, you know when he is done. For effective beagle potty training you need take your beagle out at regular intervals. Maybe every hour. Gradually increase this to one and half hour on day three. Increase this by another half hour next day and continue till he can go with potty breaks for four hours straight. Do it slowly but consistently. Let me out for at least 10 minutes. If he doesn’t relieve himself in that 10 min break bring him in and put him in his crate until the next potty break.

If you are someone that works during the day and you have a pet that needs to stay at home, then it is a good idea to get them a crate. You don’t have to keep them in the dog crates all day, you can just provide it as a place for them to sleep and stay warm or cool. They will most likley feel very comfortable inside it and they will want to sleep there too. They are actually pretty cheap to buy, but you need to make sure to get the right size because pets will grow a little.

My brother-in-law just found two abandoned kittens at work. He has decided that he is going to take them home with him and just called to ask me to pick up some supplies. He needs a litter box, litter, two Pet Carriers and some food. I’m supposed to drop them off at his work. He wants the crate style carriers, but I think the local pet store only carries the collapsible type for cats. Either that or they may offer cardboard temporary ones just for this purpose. Hopefully this won’t cost me an arm and a leg as my checking account is low. He’ll pay me back, but that might take a day or two.

To celebrate my recent job change into finance my wife made me a special dinner last night. My wife is originally from Spain and so whenever she cooks anything, even toast, it comes out tasting amazing. After we ate dinner last night my wife told me about the new soft-sided  pet bag that she was going to buy. My wife has a nice little kitten that she bought two months ago and she tends to take the kitten with her all over the place. This coming September my wife and I are going to travel to San Francisco and she wanted to take her kitten with us.

I was down under on a trip to that beautiful little country in the south pacific, New Zealand, this winter and had the opportunity to visit a lot of old family and old friends. One lady we visited was a neat person, 92 years old, widowed for 60 years, farmer, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Lives alone and this lady has the most wonderfull vegetable garden and flower garden. What intrigued me was the amount of birds around, untill I saw why, as everywhere I looked I could see Rustic Bird Feeders hanging off fences, trees, eavestroughs you name it. All homemade, all different.

If there is a puppy in the house then you already know why dogs need chew toys; they simply chew on everything. When I say everything that includes shoes, furniture, walls, you name it; your dog will chew it. In in effort to keep the shoe and other chewing down to a minimum, I suggest some highly durable dog toys. Regardless of what you do, your dog, especially puppies will chew your shoes but if you have some special chew toys around then perhaps you can encourage him to chew those. For your dog to have healthy teeth and decent breathe then please buy some dog toys, you will be glad you did…

We have a great pet called Casey, a beautiful British Bulldog bitch, who like all pets has a few basic needs. One of these needs, is the need to pester me every morning at about 5 am to be let outside to go do her business on the lawn. Every morning, without fail, 5 am!  At first it was kind of cute, but after a year or so, it had lost it’s appeal that’s for sure. One of our friends suggested we look into getting a Patio Pet Door, one of those little doors that you install into the bottom of an existing door. Best thing we ever did, as Casey now does her thing, then is back inside sleeping again until the rest of us are awakening.
