The right bed size for your dog

14 Jul

Posted by Lupe,

I have a large dog and his love of his life is what makes him so special. However, it wasn’t always like this, a while back my dog was in trouble, he started to get really lethargic. This really worried me, I was thinking where was my dog gone? I initially thought that it was a phase for him, but it got worse. So I said enough was enough and began researching for a cure. I came across a great website Dog Beds For Large Dogs which talked about how the wrong sized bed can lead to a lack of sleep which consequently has a negative effect on your dogs energy levels. So I put the reccomendations i place and soon enough he got better and he’s been his usual self since.

Make sure your dog stays warm

06 Jul

Posted by Noble,

The great thing about dog crate covers is that they will help change your dog’s metal crate into a secure and comfortable “bedroom” area. The cover wraps snuggly around your dog kennel, this is great as i means the crate is always nice and warm. It does leave the door area open, giving your dog the feeling of being in the security of a den. This is great because it protects your dog from kennel related injury the same way bumper pads protect a baby in a crib and providing a more comfortable place for your dog. Dog Crate Covers provides excellent articles and and resources which enables you to give more to your dog.

Some potty training tips for every new beagle owner

20 Apr

Posted by Cherrie,

Do not keep food in his plate all day long. Feed him only twice a day. Take him out immediately after his meal. Once he has finished his business, praise him, take him in and put him in his crate and give him some toys. Keep your beagle puppy on a leash while out on a potty break. So, you know when he is done. For effective beagle potty training you need take your beagle out at regular intervals. Maybe every hour. Gradually increase this to one and half hour on day three. Increase this by another half hour next day and continue till he can go with potty breaks for four hours straight. Do it slowly but consistently. Let me out for at least 10 minutes. If he doesn’t relieve himself in that 10 min break bring him in and put him in his crate until the next potty break.

Potty Training my Puppy

16 Apr

Posted by Palma,

Take care of your small Labrador puppy as you would a baby. They love to experiment, chew and dig. They may chew something dangerous when you are not looking. Another thing they love wires and footwear. So, take care they don’t chew on electrical wiring or costly stuff. They love to explore and go running off. So, keep a look out that they don’t fall into a ditch or get caught in a electrical fence. You need to keep a watch on them all the time. Provide them with plenty of toys and chewable hard stuff. They will hours of fun playing with them. This will keep them out of mischief and you can have some time to do your many chores. Potty training my puppy is one of the major accomplishments in my pet raising experience.

Crate training an older dog

13 Apr

Posted by Jolynn,

Crate training an older dog is a little more difficult than puppies. He may not like to be put in a crate when he has had run of the whole house. But a system of treats and withholding praise will work wonders in getting your dog to obey you. An important tip here is to buy a crate that is big enough for your dog to stand and turn around inside but not too big to use as toilet in case he can’t get out. This happens rarely but better to be cautious. The crate should be a friendly and comfortable place for your dog. Throw in an old t-shirt and some materials for him to lie on.

Training German Shepherds

19 Mar

Posted by Leia,

Training German Shepherds require patience and consistency. You need to set a schedule to train them and do it regularly. Most dogs will regress and forget the training if it is not reinforced consistently. Especially in the early years you need to put in the effort to instill discipline in them. A well trained German Shepherd is a joy to be around. Another point to note here is that sometimes they will not do what you want them to do. They will try to test your intolerance limits. This is the general tendency of these dogs. Don’t be discouraged. Just reinforce your training and let them understand what you will tolerate and what you won’t. Once this rules are established they will not likely cross them. But expect them to cross them once in a while. It is part of their nature and they can’t help it.

Dog training tricks

07 Mar

Posted by Gilberte,

There are no shortcuts to dog training. If you are looking for some magical dog training tricks then you are in for some disappointment. The most basic rule to follow while training your dog is to be disciplined. You need to practice this before expecting your dog to follow it. Second most important rule is to be consistent. Every day, every hour, and every minute you need to be consistent when dealing with your dog. Else, he will get confused and won’t understand your anger or joy at his behavior. Praise and treats for good behavior and reprimand for bad behavior will help him understand what is expected of him and what he is not supposed to do.

Dog Crates and Kennels

04 Feb

Posted by Hyman,

If you are someone that works during the day and you have a pet that needs to stay at home, then it is a good idea to get them a crate. You don’t have to keep them in the dog crates all day, you can just provide it as a place for them to sleep and stay warm or cool. They will most likley feel very comfortable inside it and they will want to sleep there too. They are actually pretty cheap to buy, but you need to make sure to get the right size because pets will grow a little.
