For a series of uniformly spaced stitching holes along a straight line, use the stitching punch for holes that are to be sewn with thread and the thonging punch for lacing.  You can also use an awl or drive punches.  First mark the leather with the stitch marker or a pencil and straightedge, then punch the holes individually.  Mark curved lines with dividers or a stitch marker.  Make holes with a punch or an awl.  Stitches are usually set 1/8 from edges.  For straight lines push marker along a steel straightedge. We’ve had absolutely terrible wearher up here in Canada this spring and now summer has finally arrived it’s pretty hard not to want to head out into the great outdoors and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Easy if you own a motorhome or even a decent tent, but with a young family to feed, it’s a bit beyond us, as these can run into thousands of dollars, (that we don’t have!)However, what we do have is a decent pickup truck, and this weekend, right on the spur of the moment we purchased one of those Truck Bed Caps and also a truck tent. Only cost us a fraction of what an RV would have, and we had a great time “camping” out, but even tough it poured down at night we were all as dry as can be, up on the truck bed.
