Roofing Color Choices

29 Mar

When we bought our new house, which was obviously an old house, everything on the outside of the house needed to be replaced. That included siding, Roofing and then all the gutters. I knew that I wanted the house to be all white so the siding color was not an option and I really wanted a black roof but I was concerned about how much of a heat conductor that would be in the summer time. Luckily the salesperson was able to show me a product that was very durable and not necessarily a big factor in how the house would be heated.

Posted by Noel,

It’s that time of year again. I can almost see sunshine streaks on people’s faces, while the tasty and yummy charcoal grilled and smoked foods are being cooked, its smell making everyone’s mouth water. There’s nothing quite like a good backyard barbeque! With grilling season right around the corner, many of us will surely be in the market getting a new grill to complete our BBQ fun. There’s a plethora of choices on the market today. Whether you prefer to cook with electricity, gas or charcoal, it’s all out there. Many choose gas smoker grills. Beware of Concrete Burns

28 Mar

Posted by Charley,

You need to protect yourself when working with fresh, wet concrete mix  because there is always the potential for concrete burns.Cement is alkaline and, therefore, caustic, which results in exposure to strong acids unless you properly protect your skin and eyes. These types of burns cause progressive redness, swelling and pain. Thereafter, this typically results in green and black dead skin with resultant permanent scarring.Exposure to alkali, such as found in cement, could cause serious eye injuries. Always wear the appropriate eye protection especially as the concrete is being mixed, pumped and placed. Splattering is common and you take needless risk if you fail to understand and take precaution against the hazards of working with wet concrete.

Where Can I Find Good Lawn Mower Reviews?

27 Mar

Posted by Albertine,

It’s time to replace the old lawn mower and I’m starting to search for the one I want, but there seem to be an awful lot of brands and models to choose from. I’m not sure I can really trust the guys at my local shop, since they obviously favor the brands they carry, so I’m looking for some good sources of non-biased reviews. I’ve looked at some of the lawn mower reviews on Amazon.com but they don’t carry a lot of the models I’m considering. Where else can I find this kind of information on the internet? I’d prefer reviews written by people who actually use the stuff, not magazines that test them but don’t have real-world experience with them.

Main pros of the torch down roofing solution

27 Mar

Posted by Katheleen,

Torch down roofing is a great long term method for your home roofing. This it because it has a long lifespan and low maintenance. You won’t need to do any repairs for years to come. This roofing may cost a bit more than the standard one called tar and gravel, but offers a much more quality product. Rubberized asphalt is the material used in this roofing. Lifespan is around 10-20 years, depending if it’s 2-layered or 3-layered. Installation is fairly easy although there  are a lot of steps to follow. You can hire a roofing contractor to this this job for you. Find contractors listings online.

The Lazy Gardener’s Way to Organic Gardening Compost

27 Mar

Posted by Quinton,

I try and make and effort at the beginning of every Spring to try and go a little bit greener than last year.  I have done my best to do as much organic type gardening as possible. I try to not use sprays that aren’t made from natural ingredients.  It all sounds good but it usuall only lasts about two months.  When the bugs go nuts and the sun is hot, I kind of forget about the green part and go for the easy way out.  But the one thing I have been able to do is make my own organic gardening compost. I just put up some chicken fencing around four steel posts and started throwing in kitchen scraps and some fishing worms that didn’t get used.  I just toss stuff in. Zero effort.  That’s the way I like it.

Garage Door Shopping

27 Mar

When I started pricing out the different doors that I could have on my garage I was quite surprised with the ease of shopping. Not only could they give me quotes over the phone for a new Garage Door but they were all just about the same and the only thing that varied was the installation. With that being said it was relatively easy for me to find the door that I wanted and I did not have to waste a lot of time with salespeople coming out to the house and wasting my time with measuring and offering me different quotes with insulation and panels choices.
